WSJ’s Beaudette leaving for CNN

Marie Beaudette of The Wall Street Journal, who oversees business, finance and economics coverage, is leaving the paper for a job at CNN, according to insiders at the company.
She was promoted to that position in November 2024.
Beaudette was previously financial editor at the paper. A longtime Journal editor, Beaudette has managed reporters covering the U.S. banking industry, corporate mergers during a once-in-a-generation dealmaking boom and companies that went bankrupt during the 2008 financial crisis.
She also did a stint as the Journal’s assistant managing editor for talent, responsible for newsroom recruiting, career development and internships.
Before she joined Dow Jones and the Journal in 2004, Beaudette was a reporter for Legal Times, a Washington, D.C., newspaper popular among lawyers and government officials.
She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland.
